Deathbans

A deathban temporarily locks you out of a realm after you die there. You wait out a timer before you can play again on that realm. Higher store ranks shorten the wait.

Deathbans only apply on realms where enforcement is turned on. Run /deathban status to check the current realm and settings.

Quick start

1. Die on an enforced realm while eligible for a deathban.
2. Wait for the timer to expire, or spectate your faction if teammates are online.
3. Reconnect when the ban ends to return to the realm.
4. Check remaining time on your sidebar scoreboard or with /deathban status.

What happens when you die

When a deathban applies, you cannot keep playing on that realm like a normal respawn.

• You receive a deathban for the realm where you died.
• A countdown starts and shows on your sidebar.
• You are removed from active play until the ban expires or you can spectate.

New players below a minimum playtime threshold are not deathbanned. Store ranks can reduce how long a ban lasts. Exact values are shown by /deathban status.

If your faction is online

If you are in a faction and at least one teammate is online on the server, you may be forced into spectator mode instead of leaving entirely.

• You watch your faction members in first person.
• You cannot move around on your own or change game mode.
• Sneak to switch to the next online member (/deathban next also works).
• You can only spectate members of your own faction who are not deathbanned themselves.

When your ban expires while spectating, you are returned to the world at your bed, faction home, or respawn anchor if one is available.

If nobody is online

If you are not in a faction, or no eligible teammates are online, you are sent to the hub.

• You cannot stay on the realm while the ban is active.
• Trying to log back in shows a screen with the remaining time.
• Log in again while a teammate is online to spectate instead of waiting at the hub.

Reconnecting

Your deathban is tied to the realm kind where you died, not every server on the network.

• An active ban blocks you from joining that realm until it expires.
• If teammates come online while you are at the hub, reconnect to spectate them.
• When the ban ends, you can return and resume playing.
• If you had a pending death return, you respawn at your bed, home, or anchor when allowed back.

While deathbanned and not spectating, movement and teleports on the realm are blocked.

Faction info

Deathbanned members show in red on /f who. Hover their name to see which realm they died on and how much time is left.
