Deathbans

A deathban temporarily locks you out of the current HCF map after you die on a deathban-enabled realm. You wait out the timer or use a life to revive before you can return.

Deathbans only apply on realms where enforcement is turned on. Run /deathban status to check the current realm, active profile, remaining time, and your lives.

Quick start

1. Die on an enforced realm while eligible for a deathban.
2. You are sent to the lobby and blocked from returning while the deathban is active.
3. Wait for the timer to expire, or use /revive if you have a usable life.
4. Rejoin the realm once the deathban ends or is revived.

What happens when you die

When a deathban applies, you cannot keep playing on that realm like a normal respawn.

• You receive a deathban for the current map.
• You get a message showing how long the deathban lasts.
• After you respawn, you are sent to the lobby.
• Trying to join the deathban realm again shows a screen with the remaining time.

Deathban length scales with all-time playtime on the server. Newer players receive the shortest timer, and the timer grows up to the map maximum as playtime increases.

Lives and revives

Lives let you clear an active timed deathban before the timer expires.

• Use /lives to see your regular and soulbound lives.
• Use /revive to revive yourself.
• Use /revive <player> to revive another deathbanned player.
• Reviving yourself spends a soulbound life first, then a regular life.
• Reviving someone else spends a regular life.

Permanent map deathbans cannot be revived with lives.

Map profiles

Deathbans can change with the current map state.

• Normal profile uses the map's regular scaling timer.
• SOTW can cap deathbans to a shorter maximum.
• EOTW can make deathbans last for the rest of the map.

Reconnecting

Your deathban is tied to the current map, not your whole account across every server.

• An active ban blocks login to deathban-enforced realms on that map.
• The queue also blocks destinations while you have an active deathban.
• You can still stay in the lobby while waiting.
• When the timer expires, or when you are revived, you can rejoin normally.

If the server cannot send you to the lobby, you may be kicked with the deathban screen instead.

Faction info

Deathbanned members show in red on /f who. Hover their name to see how much time is left.
