Patch Notes - 10/4/2026
Hello everyone,
Thank you to those of you who participated in Start of the World. I would like to apologize for the performance issues we were encountering. Most of them have been resolved and I will continue monitoring the situation(TM).
I would also like to apologize for the server being hit by a botnet during SOTW. We have upgraded our security measures and will try to mitigate these attacks in the future.
We all appreciate you guys being understanding and working through the issues with us.
Network
- HCFR is now using Cloudflare for our reverse proxy/DDoS protection.
Factions
- Claiming land now removes your PvP protection.
/homeand/hqnow take you to your faction home, the same way/f homedoes./f infonow accepts a player name, the same way/f whodoes. If a faction and a player share a name, you get the faction.- You can now run the claim map command again to close the map.
- Villager AI is no longer prevented inside Faction claims.
- Added full support for
/teamand/talias with Factions. - Any faction member can set a rally with
/f rally. - Faction chat skips public slow mode. That includes the faction channel and public messages that start with
@. - Fixed players not being able to damage passive entities inside factions claims.
- Fixed factions not taking reduced DTR loss inside Nether/End.
Outposts
- Outpost buffs now ignore Magma Cubes, Sulfur Cubes and Slimes.
Classes
- Rogues can grapple with a fishing rod. Hook the ground or a living target and you are pulled toward it. The hook is removed as soon as you launch.
- Grapple has a 5 second cooldown and shows under Class Cooldowns. Using it breaks cloak. Casting again while the cooldown is up cancels the hook. Throwing the rod by itself does not break cloak.
- Fixed an issue that was breaking class passives upon death/respawn.
Combat
- Updated death messages to use a mixed version of the legacy HCFR death message format.
- Fixed a bug that was causing elytras to drop while in regular flight.
- Combat Tag increased to 60s Attacker / 30s Attacked.
Horns
- A horn can replace a weaker permanent effect. If you already have that effect at the same strength or higher, the horn leaves it alone. When the horn wears off, the effect you had before comes back.
Merchant
- Added Rabbits Foot, Nether Wart, Ghast Tear, Villager Egg and Cow Egg to the Supplies shop.
- Fixed Monster Spawners purchased from the shop not updating when placed.
World
- Breeding a mob stack tells you why it failed. If you are short on food, the action bar says how many you need. If the stack or you are still on cooldown, it says how many seconds are left. Food is only taken when the baby actually spawns.
- Common junk blocks, including cobblestone, stone, deepslate, dirt, gravel, and netherrack, despawn after about 30 seconds.
- Hoppers move items more slowly.
- Increased mob stack limit to 300.
- Villagers that are far from players no longer keep working in the background. Villagers near a player still farm, pick up food, and can be infected by zombies.
- Recipes that call for a player head accept any player head.
- Totem of the Undying Crafting Recipe now accepts all player heads in the recipe.
- Disabled Bed Bombs.
- Disabled Endermite Spawning.
- Enhanced nearby Nether Portal search to prevent some cases where portals stack on top of each other.
Events
- A scheduled event keeps its time slot until it actually starts. If another event is already running, or the start fails, it tries again until the start window closes.
/event nextstill shows the next scheduled time, and it tells you when automatic starts are turned off.- Populated the event key loot tables.
Lives
- Spending a life only goes through when you have one to spend. A revive that does not clear the ban gives that life back.
- Adding or removing regular lives leaves soulbound lives unchanged, and the other way around.
The first King of the Hill event will begin today at 4:00PM ET. Hope to see you there!
